10.3. REFRIGERANTPIPINGWORK

Whenworkingwithrefrigerantpiping,thefollowingpointsmust

becarefullyobserved:nomoistureoddustmustbeallowedto

enterthepiping,andtheremustbenorefrigerantleaks.

1. Procedureandprecautionsforflaringwork

a. Cutthepipe

Useapipecutter,andcutslowlysothepipewillnotbe

deformed.

b. Removeburrsandcleanshavingsfromthecutsurface

Iftheshapeofthepipeendispoorafterremovingburrs,

orifshavingsadheretotheflaredarea,itmayleadto

refrigerantleaks.

Topreventthis,turnthecutsurfacedownwardand

removeburrs,thencleanthesurface,carefully.

c. Inserttheflarenut(besuretousedthesamenutthatis

usedontheACunit)

d. Flaring

Checktheclampbarandthecleanlinessofthecopper

pipe.

Besuretosuedtheclampbartodotheflaringwith

accuracy.UseeitheranR410Aflaringtool,ora

conventionalflaringtool.flaringtoolscomeindifferent

sizes,sobesuretocheckthesizebeforeusing.When

usingaconventionalflaringtool,usethecopperpipe

gaugeforclearanceadjustment,etc.,toensurethe

correctAdimension(seeFig.10)

10.3.1. PipingMaterials

Itisrecommendedthatyouusecopperandcopperalloyjointlesspipeswithamaximumoiladherenceof40mg/10m.Donotused

pipesthatarecrushed,deformed,ordiscolored(especiallytheinsidesurface).Iftheseinferiorpipesareused,impuritiesmayclog

theexpansionvalvesorcapillaries.

BecausethepressureofACsusingR410AishigherthanthoseusingR22,itisessentialthatyouselectmaterialsthatare

appropriateforthesestandards.

ThethicknessofthecoppertubingusedforR410AisshowninTable10.Pleasebeawarethattubingwithathicknessofonly0.7

mmisalsoavailableonthemarket,butthisshouldneverbeused.

The R410A flare nut for the ACs can be

distinguished by their shape because

they do not have this part. When flaring,

be sure to use the same nut that is used

on the AC unit.
