Precautions

vacuumpumpadaptorandmanifoldgaugepriortouse,

andfollowtheinstructionscarefully.

Makesurethatthevacuumpumpisfilledwithoilupto

thedesignatedlineontheoilgauge.

Thegaspressurebackflowpreventionvalveonthe

charginghoseisgenerallyopenduringuse.Whenyou

areremovingthecharginghosefromtheserviceport,it

willcomeoffmoreeasilyifyouclosethisvalve.

b.Copperpipes

Useonlycopperpipeswiththethicknessgivenintable10,andwithminimalimpurities.Becausethesurfaceofthepipeis

exposed,youshouldtakespecialcare,andalsotakemeasuressuchasmarkingthepipestomakesuretheyareeasily

distinguishedfromotherpipingmaterials,topreventmistakenuse.

3.Precautionsduringrefrigerantpipingwork

Takethefollowingprecautionson-sitewhenconnectingpipes.(Keepinmindthattheneedtocontroltheentryofmoistureand

dustisevenmoreimportantthatinconventionalpiping).

a.KeeptheopenendsofallpipessealeduntilconnectionwithACequipmentiscomplete.

b.Takespecialcarewhendoingpipingworkonrainydays.Theenteringofmoisturewilldegradetherefrigeratingmachineoil,

andleadtomalfunctionsintheequipment.

c.Completeallpipeconnectionsinasshortatimeaspossible.Ifthepipemustbeleftstandingforalongtimeafterremoving

theseal,itmustbethoroughlypurgedwithnitrogen,ordriedwithavacuumpump.

10.4.INSTALLATION,TRANSFERRING,SERVICING

10.4.1.InspectingGasLeakswithaVacuumPumpforNewInstallations(UsingNew

RefrigerantPiping)

1.Fromtheviewpointofprotectingtheglobalenvironment,pleasedonotreleaserefrigerantintotheatmosphere.

a.Connecttheprojectingside(pin-pushingside)ofthecharginghoseforthemanifoldgaugetotheserviceportofthe3-way

valve.(1)

b.FullyopenthehandleLoofthemanifoldgaugeandrunthevacuumpump.(2)(Iftheneedleofthelow-pressuregauge

instantlyreachesvacuum,re-checkstepa).)

c.Continuethevacuumprocessforatleast15minutes,thenchecktomakesurethelow-pressuregaugehasreached-0.1

MPa(-76cmHg).Oncethevacuumprocesshasfinished,fullyclosethehandleLoofthemanifoldgaugeandstopthe

vacuumpumpoperation,thenremovethecharginghosethatisconnectedtothevacuumpumpadaptor.(Leavetheunitin

thatconditionfor1-2minutes,andmakesurethattheneedleofthemanifoldgaugedoesnotreturn.)(2)and(3)

d.Turnthevalvestemofthe2-wayvalve90counter-clockwisetoopenit,then,after10seconds,closeitandinspectforagas

leak(4)

e.Removethecharginghosefromthe3-wayvalveserviceport,thenopenboththe2-wayvalveand3-wayvalve.(1)(4)(Turn

thevalvesteminthecounter-clockwisedirectionuntilitgentlymakescontact.Donotturnitforcefully).

f.Tightentheserviceportcapwithatorquewrench(18N.m(1.8kgf.m)).(5)Thentightenthe2-wayvalveand3-wayvalve

capswithatorquewrench(42N.m(4.2kgf.m))or(55N.m(5.5kgf.m)).

g.Afterattachingeachofthecaps,inspectforagasleakaroundthecaparea.(5)(6)
